Our ambition is to bring forward high quality development,
supported by infrastructure and the right local faciliites, to meet
Colchester's growth aspirations and to meet housing need. To
bring forward the best development possible it is important that we
plan properly to ensure the highest design standards are achieved,
and to make sure that the right infrastructure is planned and put
in place in good time.
This is why we need to start the planning process early to make
sure that we can deliver well thought out and high quality homes,
including affordable housing and supporting facilities and
services. The process of delivering a large development like
this takes a significant amount of time and even though we have
started the process, construction of new homes and facilities will
not start for many years.
This current phase of work is centred on the preparation,
submission and approval of an outline planning application.
This will be followed by detailed design stages at a later
date.
